The Office After Hours

The office building was completely quiet.

Everyone had gone home hours ago, but the lights were still on in one corner of the floor.

Emma was finishing a presentation when she heard footsteps.

“You’re still here?” Mark asked.

She turned in her chair.

“Deadlines never sleep.”

He walked over, leaning on her desk while looking at the screen.

Their shoulders nearly touched.

The quiet office suddenly felt smaller.

Emma noticed the way he looked at her—not like a colleague, but something more.

The city lights outside reflected on the glass walls around them.

Mark finally said:

“You know… working late might be my new favorite schedule.”

Emma smiled.

“Maybe mine too.”
